Farmhouse Strawberry Pie

Nobody can resist the juicy sweetness of a Farmhouse Strawberry Pie. This strawberry pie recipe uses a whole pint of fresh hulled and sliced strawberries. The filling also calls for a bit of strawberry gelatin which not only adds to the strawberry flavor, but also adds texture and form to the pie. The gelatin also makes the filling that much juicier. Pair the pie filling with your favorite pie crust recipe or you can just use a frozen pie crust from the grocery store. Add a dollop of whipped cream to each slice and serve.

Do you know how long I have been looking for this recipe? I had this pie 18 years ago and have not had it since because I could not find anyone in Ohio that knew about it. I am so happy to find this because I used to crave it when I was pregnant and I haven't had it since. I love this pie.

We grow our own strawberries so, even though it is winter here in South Africa, we have some frozen from our summer crop and they were just great for this delicious recipe. We made our own crushed biscuit base (rather than a ready made one) and the whole pie was oh so good and it reminded us that there WILL be a summer after all this rainy, cold weather we are having, lol!
