I've never been a huge fan of food magazines. They always seem so impersonal to me and the recipes they feature have always been a bit too fancy for my liking. Then I came across Where Women Cook and my entire opinion of food magazines changed.
Where Women Cook is one of the best and most beautiful food magazines out on the market today. This quarterly publication is full of delicious-looking recipes and heartwarming stories of women and food. It features stories of women from all walks of life, including bloggers, bakery owners, and TV chefs. Each issue is full of vibrant photos, both of food and the women who are passionate about it. I love how the recipes that are scattered throughout the magazine are interwoven into the stories about individual women's lives. This technique really provides a sense of community and family while encouraging me to make the recipes at the same time. Most of all, though, I love learning about how different women share their love of food through what they do. My favorite stories are of those who have transformed their passion into a career.
Unlike other food magazines, Where Women Cook is made out of high quality materials (thanks in part to its quarterly printing schedule). Both the cover and pages are thicker than regular magazines which prevents them from tearing easily as you browse through them and really supports the rich colors of the photos that are printed on them. Yet, each image has just the right amount of gloss to it, making it almost jump off of the page. I really enjoy the thicker, higher quality materials that go into making Where Women Cook because it makes for a better reading experience for me. It's firm and easy to hold instead of being floppy like other publications.
I look forward to receiving and browsing through every issue of Where Women Cook. It's a really beautiful magazine that all food-lovers will enjoy.
