I love practically any type of Christmas cookie, but sugar cookies are always a good standby, because they can be easily decorated. My mom and I love decorating cookies together every year and we like to see who can be the most creative.

There are two family cookie recipes we use every year around this time. If I don't eat any "Pink" or "Nonpareil" cookies, the holidays just aren't complete.

My family makes amazing gufflet cookies. I've never seen them anywhere else, so they're definitely unique. To make these cookies, you need to own a gufflet iron.

My family always likes to ignore recipes and try to substitute ingredients, so our holiday cookies sometimes end up really weird or unbelievably delicious. We never know if we're going something wrong or if we're culinary geniuses until we actually try the finished product. It's fun to experiment together!
