Can you use a sugar substitute in this recipe, or do you need the stickiness of the real sugar to keep the caramel on the popcorn? Is the corn syrup enough if you add sweetener to it in place of the sugar? I like that your recipe calls for vanilla. Many recipes are missing this important ingredient. I think the vanilla brings out the caramel taste, don't you?
