Canadian Butter Tarts
"There are so many various recipes for butter tarts, the traditional Canadian treat, that it makes the mind boggle: sugar or maple syrup, raisins or none, whether butter should be melted, etc. etc. That’s the problem with authentic, traditional dishes: depending on the region, area or household there will be variants developed because those folk there like the dish done in the particular way and no other. The differences occur also in recipes that go back a long time, thanks to unavoidable distortions or betterments introduced along the lifetime of the dish."

Do you think these would work out if I used a sugar-free syrup instead of the maple syrup? I think Princess Carolyn has the right idea about eating three or so of these with a hot beverage. I think I will drink French Vanilla Cappuccino. What is your favorite drink to have with this dish?

These look so good. I could eat one (or three) with a big mug of tea.
