Microplane 2-in-1 Core & Peel Apple Tool

I've never been a huge baker, but I may become one now that I've tried out the 2-in-1 Core and Peel Apple Tool from Microplane. No one likes wasting time in the kitchen when they're trying to put together a fabulous dessert for company, so why not use a tool that will simplify the process?


This Core and Peel Apple Tool amazed me at what it did, so much so that I whipped up a small batch of fresh, warm applesauce. Wow do I love homemade applesauce. Designed to quickly and effortlessly prepare apples, this tool features a saw-tooth coring blade flanked by two sharpened edges - this was the fun part. Simply push the tool into the apple and start spinning it in a circle around the core. Once you've reached where you started, lift up the tool and the core will slide effortlessly with it! It was one of the easiest apple core tools I have ever used and my daughter and I loved this one; we kept looking through the apples and using them as binoculars. 


To peel apples, and even other produce like carrots and pears, the other end has a sharp, straight edge peeler blade near the bottom of the handle. Because this tool is on the smaller side that means the blade is small, too. This wouldn't be ideal for peeling a lot of produce for an apple pie and applesauce, but it would be perfect for peeling an apple for your kids if they don't like eating the skin. 


Not all apple peelers are dishwasher safe, but this one is. However, the blade covers should be hand washed. It's also suggested that you rinse the tool just after using it to remove any trapped particles the dishwasher might miss. When you're not using the tool you'll want to keep the blades covered with the provided caps to avoid any injuries or cuts. But in all seriousness, this gadget is a must-have in any baker's kitchen.
