I love whoopee pies and used to buy commercially made ones all the time. I started reacting to preservatives and additives and had to give them up. I am so happy to have found a recipe that is from scratch. Most I have found were based off of cake mixes, so I couldnt have them either. I found a marshmallow fluff recipe years ago, so now maybe I can have an old favorite treat again!

Do you use sweetened or unsweetened cocoa in your whoopie pie recipe? I haven't had this treat in so long. I am not even sure that my kids know what this dessert even tastes like. I want to make these and send my daughter off to college with a big batch of them to get her first week of school going right.

I have never heard of sweetened cocoa powder. Would that not be hot chocolate mix? I am a curious person, so now I have to research this.

These are so cute. I want to try these for my next kids party.
