Directions
-
Heat oven to 375 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, espresso powder, baking powder and salt and whisk until well mixed.
-
Using a pastry blender or your fingers press the butter into the flour until you have pea-sized crumbs.
-
In a small bowl whisk the egg, cream, and vanilla.
-
Pour the egg/cream mixture into the flour mixture stirring until the dough comes together.
-
Carefully knead the dough a few times and then knead in the hazelnuts and chocolate chips.
-
On a flat surface pat the dough into a 6x12 inch rectangle. Spread the Nutella over the dough.
-
Roll one side of the dough up to the middle and roll the other side to meet the other side. Gently press the dough together into a rectangle about 1 ¾ inches thick.
-
Cut the rectangle into 2 squares. Cut each square into 4 triangles.
-
Place the scones onto the baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes until done when a wooden skewer inserted the middle comes out clean.
-
Place the scones on a cooling rack to cool fully.
-
While the scones are cooling prepare the drizzle. In a small microwave safe bowl combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil.
-
Heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir and heat in 15 second intervals until chocolate is melted. Drizzle the chocolate over each scone and top with chopped hazelnuts.

This came up on a "bisquick" "nutella" search, but no bisquick in the recipe?

I have to admit, I have actually never eaten Nutella before! I think I would love it too much. Ignorance is bliss, right? Anyway, I tasted a bite of these scones after my friends insisted I at least give them a try and I was super impressed! Of course, I now feel the need to try Nutella on it's own, but these scones were a great first step!

These scones were delicious and perfect with a cup of coffee. They weren't overly sweet, yet satisfied a sugar craving. But the melted chocolate drizzle can get messy, so make sure you grab a handful of napkins!

These were so. delicious. They weren't as dry and crumbly as scones usually are, which I loved. They also weren't as overly sweet as I thought they would be--I definitely liked that they were suitable for breakfast as well as dessert! The fresh hazelnuts on top were a nice bonus.

These scones were great! I normally don't enjoy nuts in my baked goods, but the hazelnuts were a perfect addition. My only complaint was they are a little dry, but I guess I'll just have to have some tea alongside them next time. Loved the chocolate drizzle!

These were dangerously delicious! I loved the addition of hazelnuts; they gave each scone a lovely texture that paired nicely with the soft, gooey Nutella. I'll definitely be making these again! Thanks for the recipe. :)

These are really good! The flavor is really nice, and the texture is light and flaky. They are difficult to eat, though - a little messy!

Whoa, these are seriously delicious. I was expecting it to be incredibly sweet, but I was pleasantly surprised by the contrast of the hazelnuts to the chocolatey nutella. Plus, these were so much more moist than most scones! I am 100% sold on this recipe.
